: Hi,
: I'm a writer and wish to use Haviland China in an historical setting around 1895. I'm sorry to be ignorant of the history (we have some Haviland--passed down from grandmother, etc). My question is three--fold.
: 1) Would an individual have Haviland China in 1895, Philadelphia, PA?
: 2) What pattern name and appearance would have been available if such existed.
: 3) What might the cost have been?
: Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Go to replacements.com and check under history David Haviland opened Haviland & Co. in Limoges France in 1855. he left New york to find and bring back china that was that quailty. In 1891 the company split into two. lead by his sons Theodore and Charles. Good luck
Also check out on yahoo.com and punch in... Schlieger. This family recorded all record patterns on Haviland Limoge.
