: What if the markings on the china say "Jean Haviland"?
: They are supposed to be Johan Haviland because he started his own company in bavaria. How does the price compare with the rest of the Haviland?

Jean means John in Germany and also Johann respectly is the same name. Jean changed his name to John in 1907 when he went to Bavaria (Waldershof). He had the company until 1924 when the firm was sold it to Richard Ginori Porcelain Italy. Then re-sold to The Rosenthal Company through the late 1980's. Today Johann Bavaria is under the name Traditions Fine China out of Thailand. Call 1-800-952-7857...Scott should be able to tell you more. He deals with Johann Haviland china. Good luck
