: I am VERY new to china collecting. My wife & I purchased a Blue Garland set & I am replacing a few missing peices. I have discovered that some replacements are stamped "Traditions" and made in china. Does anyone know the difference from the Bavaria Germany stamp?

Johann Haviland's company was owned by him in 1907-1924. Then sold to Richard-Ginori Fine Porcelain Italy in 1924. Then to The Rosenthal Group of Germany(so it went back to Germany) up until the late "80"'s was china produced by The Haviland Waldershof Company. Today the Tradions Fine China produces Johann Haviland china...they are out of Thailand.
